on bunny ears and such.

i have worn a lot of different hats in my life. but bunny ears are a first. how sad is that? bunny ears are the cutest! and just look at knox's fox ears. good grief. somebody pin us! as you can probably tell in the photo, we had a blast parading our animal prowess down the star speckled sidewalks of hollywood a few weeks ago where no one looked twice or even batted an eye. we blended right in with the tourists and street performers.

gotta love it.

but let me back up a minute!

living in LA is awesome. TRULY. and living in hollywood? especially awesome. i mean hello, its nickname is tinseltown! of all the cities i have called home over the years, this one is my favorite. it's the first place where i said to myself, yea, i can stop now. i'm home.

of course, before i moved here i totally hated on it. i can't remember what i even hated about LA but i had no idea what the f i was yapping about. it took two years of josh convincing me it was indeed not lame but actually super cool for me to finally see the light. stubborn i am, yes maam!

i was so so wrong. we angelenos are living the dream here you guys. ok, yea, yea yea, there are some scuzzy parts. like the stairs leading to practically every metro station east of vermont street or the myriad of smelly alleys and my street the day before trash day. but even that i have learned to love and appreciate. i take pride in wrinkling my nose at funky fumes and am a pro at holding my breath when passing stinking streets and peeps. because this is the holy grail of big cities. it's got grit. with palm trees. and stars. bright lights. and in-n-out burger. grilled cheese protein + animal style. that's what's up.

so take the good, the bad, add some sparkle and you have LA. LA is what you make it. and we cheeks make it as fun as possible. and i never take for granted this urban playground we call home. especially when i'm planning our outings. so a few weekends ago i said to josh, oh hey josh, let's go see zootopia. but let's not just see it at any theater. let's see it at the historic el capitan. because we can. because we live in this amazing city. where dreams come true and kids can see movies at historic theaters like the el capitan like it's no big deal. living the dream i say!

but proof is on the photos! so here's a whole reel from our day. hope you enjoy them as much as we did living them.

i know. what a sap.

image.jpg

buildings like the el capitan never get old. ok, yes it's old but you know what i mean.

image.jpg
image.jpg

remember those stars and sparkles i was going on about? well, literally. i am walking on stars people. i have gotten very used to this! a ton of stars belong to be people i have never heard of. like this guy.

image.jpg

3 years old? says who? i can't imagine the day when i won't be able to hold my little one like this. please let this year go as slowly as possible.

image.jpg

i really wish this photo came out better. but meh. i still love it! max would not stand still for even a second and would not humor me to pose with us.

i get it max. i get it.

image.jpg
image.jpg

we up in herrrrrrr!

image.jpg

the décor inside the el capitan is just what you would expect. vibrant and rich. and rad. i totally fell in love with this place.

image.jpg

the whole fox and bunny ear situation was pretty comical. the cheap paper hats barely fit their little heads. but they really tried to make it work. not sure where that stubbornness comes from!

and nice blue steel there max!

image.jpg

i know that backpack!

image.jpg

and this guy i know!

image.jpg

... ugh. and i know these pies all too well. gimme a veggie with extra cheese!

image.jpg

max spotted this dinosaur from a block away.

image.jpg
image.jpg

buzz! where to next?

image.jpg

in-n-out burger seemed like perfect idea after a movie. cuz i love hollywood but i hate bad tourist trap restaurants. in-n-out will never steer you wrong. only to eating too many french fries, aka, crack fries.

image.jpg

the line is always crazy long. because in-n-out always sounds like a good idea a billion other people at the exact same time as it did to you. thank god for ketchup. makes a great appetizer!

image.jpg

i am, i guess, grateful he is licking the condiments instead of using actual utensils? pick your battles mamas.

image.jpg

the starship crew. or fleet. or whatever. despite how many times i have seen ALL THE MOVIES lately i will never keep it all straight. (Ed. note: Oh my god...)

image.jpg

dude. where my food at.

image.jpg
image.jpg

he can totally hold the cup on his own but if i'm right there, well.... so it goes.

image.jpg

yas! food. but first, photos.

image.jpg

josh can make fun of me all he wants but i know you guys want to see what i ate, right?!

image.jpg

so good.

image.jpg

and then we make faces.

image.jpg

because we're like that.

image.jpg
image.jpg

and come one let's put these dumb hats on.

image.jpg

nope. not having it. but i couldn't resist. motherhood has made me unafraid. i should be worried. but i'm not. because i live here. thank you LA. thank you for making everything just a bit more special. and for allowing me to wear my many silly hats without feeling like a total jerk.

gotta love it.

the end.
