mondays + a bar named tony's darts away

a few fridays ago i made one of the best decisions ever. i requested the following monday off from work. just because. because screw you monday. not this time will i have a case of you. and josh had the day off, so why not? and as i continue, even now, to convince myself it's ok to bail on work here and there, i can't help but wonder: whoever died wishing they worked more anyway? probably no one! and that sure won't be me. and then i thought, well i would at least be productive and spend some of the free time cleaning my shit storm of a closet.

so there was no real reason for taking the day off. i just knew that i needed it. and uninterrupted quality time with josh can be hard to come by these days. so without any further ado, the request was submitted, approved, and the countdown to "personal day" commenced.

like practically any day not spent working, it was awesome! we did a bit of this and that before hitting up one of our favorite places for lunch, tony's darts away. this place is a real gem. a total dive that is somehow still inviting and not a dark snake pit in the early afternoon. tony's also serves up some of the best vegan fare i have ever had. people did look at me kind of funny as i went around taking pictures. probably because it's not all that fancy. but i love its vintage feel, like a room out of kevin arnold's house in "the wonder years." (ed. note: I didn't realize that they actually had a dart board. I've always been confounded by the name.)

three beers to the wind. this is the look of a happy girl, squinty eyes and all, and a monday well spent (ed. note: it really was a rare windy day in burbank). we got home just in time to take a nap before picking up the boys. thus, my closet remains in shambles. maybe next time. josh and i both agreed we’d make this a regular thing. every month or two, when we just need to. because no one lives wishing they worked more. not us anyway, and especially not on a monday.

and we're out sunshines. have a great rest of your week!
