sundays at the pan + happy weekend
sundays are like pizza. never bad. some just better than others. and while i'm spouting opinion as fact, i'm just gonna come out and claim sunday to be the best day of the week. somehow there is never anything that must be done. more like a bunch of fun options. i suppose we do that on purpose. sunday is a day of rest. but we never really rest, us cheeks! so when we're in town or don't have a special activity planned, we inevitably end up at pan pacific park, or "the pan", as I like to call it.
just a few blocks from home, the pan is the ultimate urban playground. the park is really big with three separate play areas, a pool, basketball quarts, workout equipment, soccer field and an above average amount of food and toy vendors for any place in los angeles. we almost always hang out at the playground closest to the beverly street entrance. it has a section for little kids and another for bigger kids. for that reason i usually come here when i have another pair of hands. max + knox, though only 15 months apart puts them at sizing odds, park-wise. and of course, knox would always want to play on the big kid part, nearly giving me a heart attack our entire visit in between bouts of pride and joy as he tackles steeper stairs and swoops down longer slides with glee.
momlife, yo.
anyway, it's been fun to watch max become more agile and knox grow out of the little tyke section. even within just a week it's amazing how much more they can do.
but i think what we all love about this park (max especially), is the park's train theme! it's really cool, i must admit. it has steering wheels (ed. note: pretty sure trains don't come with steering wheels as standard equipment, since they ride along tracks that kinda do the steering for them), climbing ropes, ladders, balance beams (!) and a climbing wall. max be yellin' "choo-choo" for days after a trip there. oh and it has a million slides. ok. maybe just six. but still. and no wood chips or sand. thank the lord.
staring into the future...
please never stop giving mama flowers, max!
after all that one must refuel! we like to pick up snacks at erewhon located adjacent to the park. if i had a million dollars i would shop at erewhon everyday. they have great healthy options. it's just very pricey. and i swear this isn't an add for kavita kombucha. i wish! the stuff is seriously good and i am very much hooked.
i wish i could remember what was making these two look so happy. but seriously they make these faces all of the time over just about anything. it's the best (ed. note: that's their 'guys we're taking a picture! face!).
and back home on the range for more trains!! we need more tracks grandmas!
now one thing we don't typically do on sundays is acquire adorable kittens. but this time we kinda had to. meet the newest cheek... maggie!
and that's all folks. have a great weekend, whatever it is you do. but i highly recommend a visit to the pan!
