silver lake meadow II: picnic like a boss
so let's try this again.
if you're following along, you may recall our recent trip to silver lake meadow did not go so well! this time, i took my own advice. our food and serving ware was on point. we brought not one, but two balls. and, most importantly, my sense of humor made it out, too. picnic part deux was a success!
ok well, there was that one goldfish incident...
i'm thinking future player here!
jury's out on max.
bringing the ball really was the glue that kept the outing from being picnic fail II: the saga continues. we even made some friends who were smart enough to bring a goal net. knox didn't really get the concept of getting the ball into the goal and just kept running into it and falling. oh the squeals! both of them also don't really get the whole kicking thing yet. instead they throw the ball in crazy directions then go running after it. this is when i took sips of wine. smart, eh?
i totally got this.

the ball only does so much though. the kids still want mama spins and shoulder rides. it's fun but after a few rotations i seriously wanted to puke.
i think they did too.
and INCYMI! this place is great for flying a kite. we could have brought our own kite, but watching someone else's works well also. and we don't have to do much other than lay back and watch. this time we got a special treat when a huge flock of birds flew with the kite for several minutes! it was really beautiful and thankfully none of them did their business on us.
that would have changed this story entirely. silver lake meadow II: i quit!
some things never change. all the balls, kites and goldfish could not keep this pileup from happening.

mama rides!
and the goldfish incident... while we were watching the kites fly and birds not poop on us, knox decided to sneak away and pour the entire bag of goldfish onto the picnic blanket. and then step on them. it was like an effed up rain dance for idk... goldfish croutons?
wow that's genius knox!
genius or not i held on to my sandwich from potato chips after that. no way was knox getting anywhere near it.
because it was amazing. caprese on some kind of beautiful bread if you're curious!
and hats off (or on!) to us for a picnic redeemed!
but don't even ask me about how dinner that night at our new favorite spot, button mash, went. that was a complete shit show.
xoxo, picnic boss
